Bidding Scenario for AllowTimeStampAdvantage = FALSE
This example illustrates the bidding rules used when a multiple-quantity auction is auctioned with an English bid type using
eAuc:AllowTimeStampAdvantage
=FALSE. In this example, several bidders have chosen to accept less than the full quantity requested in their bids if the full quantity is not available.Note how the following properties have been set in the S_SYS_PREF table:
eAuc:EnforceExactBidIncrement
= TRUEeAuc:BidTimeTieBreakOption
= 3eAuc:AutobidToReservePrice
= FALSEeAuc:AllowTimeStampAdvantage
= FALSEThis auction is a multiple-quantity auction for 10 items. The minimum quantity of items on which the lister will accept a bid is one. The starting bid is set at $1, the bid increment is set at $1, and the bid is not sealed.
The bidding for this auction is shown in the following tables ordered by first bid, second bid, third bid, and so on. The first part of Table 45 shows the user's bid; the second part of the table shows the result of that bid.
Bid Summary: Mary is the first bidder in the auction. She places a Maximum Bid Amount of $10 for nine items.
Table 46 lists the results from the second bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Don's Max Bid Amount of $4 for one item is accepted. Mary's bids are not changed. At this point, all the available items in this auction have winning bids.
Table 47 lists the results from the third bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Sarah enters a Maximum Bid Amount of $5 for one item, exceeding Don's bid, and she wins the item. Because this auction does not use a Timestamp Advantage, Mary must beat Sarah's bid (not simply meet Sarah's bid). As a result, Mary's bid is automatically raised to $6.
Table 48 lists the results from the fourth bid in the auction.
Bid Summary: Don enters a Max Bid Amount of $6 for one item, beating Sarah's max bid amount, and he wins the item. Mary's bid remains at $6, because Don's quantity is only one, and Mary is not at risk of losing her nine items.
Auction Summary: Don wins one item at $6, while Mary wins the remaining nine items at $6 each.
