Renaming Presentation Catalog Items

You can rename items in the Presentation Catalog. This can be useful when you are migrating from a development environment to a production environment.

There are two ways to rename an item:

• Rename without reference updates — Renames the item and preserves the references to the original name that other catalog items might have
• Rename with reference updates — Renames the item and changes references that other items might have to the new name (that is, original name references are not preserved).

  NOTE:  To rename items with reference updates, you must open the Presentation Catalog in offline mode.

CAUTION:  Do not rename the "My Dashboard" dashboards in the Users folder.

To rename an item without reference updates

1. In Catalog Manager, open the Presentation Catalog.
2. Navigate to the item to be renamed.
3. Right-click the item in the Name column and choose Rename.
4. Type a new name for the item.

To rename an item with reference updates

1. In Catalog Manager, open the Presentation Catalog in offline mode.
2. Navigate to the item to be renamed.
3. Right-click the item in the Name column and choose Smart Rename.
4. Type a new name for the item.

NOTE:  A progress bar in the lower right-hand corner of the window shows the progress of the reference updates.
