Disconnected Analytics Architecture (Server and Laptop)

Figure 14 shows the Siebel Analytics Server and disconnected laptop components of Siebel Analytics Server and Siebel Analytics Web. This figure also shows that sourcing reports populate the local tables from the network-based Siebel Analytics repository. You will use two different analytics platforms, each with a set of components. One platform is on the network-based server and one is on the mobile machine. The difference between the Siebel Analytics Server and disconnected server components is that the disconnected components are scaled and configured for single use.

Data is downloaded to a mobile machine using sourcing reports and the Siebel Disconnected Analytics Application Manager. The administrator or mobile user creates sourcing reports that download data for a specific application. Sourcing reports are created in Siebel Answers, stored in the Siebel Analytics Web Catalog, and executed from the application configuration file that is run by the Disconnected Analytics Application Manager.

The Disconnected Analytics Application Manager is installed on the laptop at the same time as Siebel Disconnected Analytics. It is a small utility that allows a mobile user to download tables and application data to a laptop database. It does not upload data from the laptop to the Siebel Analytics Server. For instructions about how to use Disconnected Analytics Application Manager, see Siebel Disconnected Analytics Online Help.

CAUTION:  The Disconnected Analytics Application Manager is associated with the DAD and SDC file extensions. You should not edit a DAD or SDC file.

When a mobile user downloads application data, Disconnected Analytics Application Manager executes the sourcing reports on the Siebel Analytics Web Server. Siebel Analytics Web runs the sourcing reports and compresses the data for downloading to the laptop. The download operation and the subsequent load into the local SQL Anywhere database is performed by Disconnected Analytics Application Manager.
