Understanding Properties

When you set up a content type, you select the properties that are shared by items of that type. The system displays the properties you define for a content type as fields on the Item Details page when you set up content items.

When you add content types to profiles to create content sections, you can adjust the properties, adding new properties or removing existing properties for that content section. When users add profile items to the profile, the system displays the properties you define for the content section. Some properties can only be added at the content type (catalog) level or the profile type level, while other properties are available at both levels.

The order in which properties are displayed on the Item Details page or in profiles is determined by the system. The tables in this appendix list the properties in the order that they are displayed.

Content Type Properties

This table lists the properties that you can add to a content type, the order in which the properties are displayed on the Item Details page, the default label text, and the type of information you can track using this property.

Note. The Catalog/Both column indicates whether the property can be added to the content catalog only or to both the content catalog and profile type.

3	EFF_STATUS	Both	Status as of Effective Date	The item status as of the effective date. Note. This is a required property and the system adds it to all new content types.
4	JPM_DESCR90	Catalog	Description	The item description. It is used as a related display field for the item ID in the profile. Note. This is a required property and the system adds it to all new content types.
5	DESCRLONG	Catalog	Long Description	A long description of the content item.
6	DESCRSHORT	Catalog	Short Description	A short description of the content item.
7	CM_CATEGORY	Catalog	Category	The category to which an item belongs. An item can belong to one category only. This property is useful for competency-related content types. However you can also use content groups to group items.
8	JPM_CAT_ITEM_SRC	Catalog	Content Item Source	Specifies the origin of a content item. Valid values are: Customer Defined, DDI, Lominger, or PDI.
9	RATING_MODEL	Both	Rating Model	The rating model. Use this field if the content type is associated with rating models.
10	COUNTRY	Both	Country	The country in which this item applies. This property is useful for content types that have country-specific items.
11	EP_SUB_LEVEL	Catalog	Level	The level of the item (Advanced, Basic, or Intermediate). This property is used with sub-competencies.
12	EDUCATION_LVL	Catalog	Education Level	The education level desired or required for this content item.
13	TYPE_OF_STUDY_GER	Catalog	Type Of Study	(DEU) A German property that indicates the type of study. Valid values are: Chemistry, Commerce, Constr/Mining, Electronic, Food, Forestry, Glass, Hotels, Mechanic, Other, Printing, Public Sector, and Textiles. This property is used with degrees.
14	FIELD_OF_STUD_GER	Catalog	Field Of Study	(DEU) A German property that indicates the field of study (Commercial, Industrial, or Technical). This property is used with degrees.
15	FP_DEGREE_LVL	Catalog	Level	(FRA) The degree level. This field is used for French Public Sector only.
16	HP_STATS_DEG_LVL	Catalog	Stats-Can Degree Level	(CAN) The Canadian degree level.
17	SATISFACTION_MTHD	Catalog	Satisfaction Method	Use to specify how an element is achieved. Valid values are: Attend Training Course, Dispensation Given, Off Job Training, On Job Training, Possess License/Certificate, Recognition of Prior Learning, Supervisor Assessment. This property is used with the ELEMENT content type.
18	NVQ_LEVEL	Catalog	Level	(GBR) The level of an NVQ (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5)
19	JPM_DURATION_1	Catalog	Duration (1)	A generic duration field to enter the number of days, months, years, or hours. Use the field in conjunction with the Duration Type (1) field, which defines the duration unit.
20	JPM_DURATION_TYPE1	Catalog	Duration Type (1)	Specifies the units for the Duration (1) field. Select from Days, Months, Years, or Hours.
21	JPM_DURATION_2	Catalog	Duration (2)	A generic duration field to enter the number of days, months, years, or hours. Use the field in conjunction with the Duration Type (2) field, which defines the duration unit.

23	JPM_YN_1	Both	User Yes/No (1)	A generic Yes/No check box. If the check box is selected, it indicates Yes, and if it is not selected this indicates No.

Profile Type Properties

This table lists the properties you can add to a content section in the profile type component, the order in which the properties are displayed in the profile, and the type of information you can track using this property.

Note. The system does not provide default labels when you add a property to a content section. The Profile Type/Both column indicates whether the property can be added to the profile type only or to both the content catalog and profile type.
