1 Welcome

This book describes how to install and deploy Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10.3. It also provides instructions for upgrading to Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10.3.

1.1 How to Use This Book

This guide has been designed to be used by Oracle WebCenter Collaboration administrators and developers. It has been organized to be a quick reference for experienced Oracle WebCenter Collaboration installers, while also providing detailed instructions for those installing for the first time.

1.1.1 Audience

This guide is written for the user responsible for installing or upgrading Oracle WebCenter Collaboration. This user must have strong knowledge of the platform operating system, database, web and application servers, and any other third-party software required for installation.

1.1.2 Organization

The organization of this guide is as follows:

  • This chapter provides information on how to use this guide, and other resources available to help install, deploy, upgrade, and administer the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration components.

  • Chapter 2, "Installation Prerequisites," provides hardware and software requirements, as well as environmental and third-party software prerequisites. This chapter must be read and prerequisites must be met prior to proceeding to the installation or upgrade.

  • Chapter 3, "QuickStart Overview," provides a high level overview of the Oracle WebCenter Collaboration installation and upgrade procedures. Sufficient detail is provided to allow an experienced Oracle WebCenter Collaboration administrator to quickly install or upgrade Oracle WebCenter Collaboration. Cross-references link the high level tasks to detailed procedures in other chapters.

  • Chapter 4, "Installation," provides detailed instructions for the installation and configuration of Oracle WebCenter Collaboration.

  • Chapter 5, "Upgrade," provides detailed instructions for upgrading to Oracle WebCenter Collaboration 10.3.

  • Appendix A, "Installing the Exchange Remote API to Enable Groupware Integration," provides detailed instructions for the installation and configuration of the Exchange Remote API, which is used to integrate with Microsoft Exchange.

  • Appendix B, "Silent Properties File," provides information on how to use the silent properties file during installation.

  • Appendix C, "Uninstalling Oracle WebCenter Collaboration," provides instructions for uninstalling Oracle WebCenter Collaboration.

1.1.3 Typographical Conventions

This book uses the following typographical conventions.
