What You Can Do with Rules

A rule is a set of expressions that include activation parameters, which, when triggered, prompt the system to automatically send a notification to selected users. Each rule is based on a rule template that is created by a systems administrator in the BAM system (Business Activity Monitoring system), which monitors your back-end systems (for example, an inventory database).  The rule template defines the expressions, and the rule specifies the values for the variable parameters in the expressions. The rule is then used to create a system notification. For example, you might create a rule that will trigger a notification when inventory of a product falls below a certain level.

Note: You must have permission to manage rules. If you think you are supposed to be able to manage rules, but you do not see the Rules folder, contact your portal administrator.
