The WebLogic Platform software requires a valid license to run.
When you install WebLogic Platform, the installation program installs
a one-year evaluation license with access for up to 20 client connections.
The evaluation license is a full license, enabling all of the component
features of WebLogic Platform.

A developer license gives a customer access to WebLogic
Server, WebLogic Integration, and WebLogic Portal development
functionality, and supports 15 concurrent connections. A WebLogic
Workshop Developer license is available with the WebLogic
Platform Developer license as part of a limited-time promotion.
This type of license is typically used in a development environment
where a developer is preparing an application to run on top
of WebLogic Platform; a production license is required for
product deployment.

A production license allows unlimited connections and development
for an unrestricted period of time, for a specific IP address.
|
|
|
An ISV license is an extended version of a production license
that allows ISVs to distribute the server software to many
customers, while keeping control of the license by providing

License Packages for WebLogic Platform 7.0
|
|
|
You can install and license individual components
of WebLogic Platform, or the complete platform. During installation,
the installation program installs a single license.bea
file in the BEA Home directory in which you install the software.
If a license.bea
file already exists, the installation program updates the license.
This license file is checked at runtime to determine which features
you can use. The licenses available for WebLogic Platform 7.0 are
described in the following table.

WebLogic Express offers many services
and APIs available with WebLogic Server, including WebLogic
JDBC features, JavaServer Pages (JSP), servlets, Remote Method

differs from WebLogic Server in that WebLogic Express does
not provide Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), Java Message Services
(JMS), J2EE CA, WebLogic Workshop, or the two-phase commit
protocol for transactions.

WebLogic Express Premium Edition
|
Enables basic WebLogic Express functionality
as described above. Includes premium clustering support.

128-bit Encryption
|
All WebLogic Platform licenses come with
56-bit encryption enabled by default. This license provides
128-bit encryption for SSL.

Installing and Upgrading Licenses
|
|
|
To add a non-expiring license or a license for additional
functionality, you need to update the license.bea file
