Known Issues

Issues Related to Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise 9 on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon

This section describes known issues that occur when you run WebLogic Server9.2 and later MPs and WebLogic Portal 9.2 and later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise 9 systems based on the AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon chip architecture.

JVM Stack Overflow

You might encounter a JVM stack overflow error or exception while running WebLogic Server on the Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise 9 on 64-bit Xeon configuration.

Workaround: Increase the stack size from the default 128k to 256k.

Exception Encountered on Systems with Mounted NFS File Systems

You might encounter the following exception while installing WebLogic Server and WebLogic Portal on a system that has NFS file systems mounted:

"Caused by:  java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Can not list file system roots on this computer"

Workaround: Ensure that you have at least 600MB of free disk space before installing WebLogic Server and use the -Dspace.detection=false flag while installing. For example: 

java -Dspace.detection=false -jar server920_generic.jar -mode=console

Issues Related to Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise 9 on AMD64, 64-bit Xeon, and Itanium when Using Remote Autonomy

Serial Version UID Mismatch

A Serial Version UID Mismatch Issue may be encountered if you deploy an application on a latest JVM, but compiled with an earlier JDK release.

Workaround: To be compatible with the serialization of previously compiled applications, modify the <BEA_HOME>/Weblogic92/common/bin/commEnv.sh file to include the following command:

JAVA_OPTIONS="$JAVA_OPTIONS -Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0"

Note: If you intend to deploy new applications with previously compiled applications, they must be recompiled as necessary to have the same Serial Version UID.

Download and Installation Instructions

Download and Install BEA JRockit 5.0 R26.4.0-6 JDK

  1. Go to the BEA download site:

    2. http://commerce.bea.com

  2. Download and install the supported version of JRockit JDK for your configuration:
  3. Update the JAVA_HOME environment variable to reflect the JDK installation directory. For example: 
    4. export JAVA_HOME=<JRockit_installation _directory>
  4. Add your Java executables to the PATH environment variable:
    5. export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on x86

  1. Download and Install BEA JRockit 5.0 R26.4.0-6 JDK
  2. Depending on your requirements:

Download and Install WebLogic Server 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on x86

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/showallversions.jsp?family=WLS.
  2. Under the WebLogic Server Package Installer, select Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (9, 10, x86) from the list of OS Platforms for your configuration.
  3. Download the package installer .bin file.
  4. Install by completing the installation procedure provided at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13179_01/common/docs92/install/start.html. This section describes how to install .bin files using Graphical mode.

Download and Install WebLogic Portal 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on x86

To install WebLogic Portal on SLES 9 on x86:

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/index.jsp/showallversions.jsp?family=WLP.
  2. Under the WebLogic Platform Package Installer, select Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server from the list of OS Platforms for your configuration.
  3. Download the package installer .bin file.
  4. Install WebLogic Portal using the instructions in Using Installers with Filenames Ending in .bin in the BEA Products Installation Guide. This section describes the process of installing .bin files in the Graphical mode.

Download and Install WebLogic Integration 9.2 MP1 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on x86

To install WebLogic Integration 9.2 on SLES 9 on x86:

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/index.jsp/showallversions.jsp?family=WLI.
  2. Under the WebLogic Platform Package Installer, select Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (9, 10, x86, 64-bit Xeon/AMD64) from the list of OS Platforms for your configuration.
  3. Download the package installer .jar file.
  4. Install using the instructions in Using Installers with Filenames Ending in .jar in the BEA Products Installation Guide. This section describes the process of installing .jar files in the Graphical mode.

Download and Install AquaLogic Service Bus on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on x86

To install the BEA AquaLogic Service Bus on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on x86:

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/showallversions.jsp?family=ALSB.
  2. From the list of OS Platforms, select Novell Suse Linux Enterprise Server (9, 10, x86, 64 bit Xeon/AMD64).
  3. Download the .bin package installer.
  4. Install AquaLogic Service Bus by completing the console-mode installation procedure for .bin files available at Running the Installation Program in Graphical Mode.
  5. Set the WL_HOME variable to the directory in which you installed your BEA product and export WL_HOME. For example:
    6. $ export WL_HOME=<your_installation_directory>/weblogic92

Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon

Complete the following procedures:

  1. Download and Install BEA JRockit 5.0 R26.4.0-6 JDK.
  2. Depending on your requirements:
    1. Download and Install WebLogic Server 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon
    2. Download and Install WebLogic Portal 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon
    3. Download and Install WebLogic Integration 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon
    4. Download and Install AquaLogic Service Bus on 64-bit Xeon and AMD64
  3. Download and Apply BEA Patches

Download and Install WebLogic Server 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon

To install WebLogic Server on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on AMD64 or 64-bit Xeon, you need BEA JRockit 5.0 and the installer for WebLogic Server 9.2.

To install WebLogic Server 9.2

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/showallversions.jsp?family=WLS.
  2. Under the WebLogic Server Package Installer, select Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (9, 10, 64-bit Xeon/AMD64) from the list of OS Platforms for your configuration.
  3. Download the package installer .jar file.
  4. Install WebLogic Server using the instructions provided in the "Using Installers with Filenames Ending in .jar" section of the WebLogic Server 9.2 Installation Guide.

    5. If your configuration includes the 64-bit version of BEA JRockit, your installation of WebLogic Server is now complete. If your configuration includes the 32-bit version, however, you must also complete the following steps:

  5. Set the BEA_HOME to point to the directory in which WebLogic Server is installed and export BEA_HOME. For example:
    6. export BEA_HOME=<your_WebLogic_Server_installation_directory>
  6. In a text editor, open the $BEA_HOME/weblogic92/common/bin/commEnv.sh and search for the following case statement:
    7. LINUX|Linux)
    arch='uname -m'

    Replace with the following:

       fi

Download and Install WebLogic Portal 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon

To install WebLogic Portal on SLES 9 on AMD64 and 64-bit Xeon:

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/index.jsp/showallversions.jsp?family=WLP.
  2. Under the WebLogic Platform Package Installer, select Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (9, 10, 64-bit Xeon/AMD64) from the list of OS Platforms for your configuration.
  3. Download the package installer .jar file.
  4. Install using the instructions in Using Installers with Filenames Ending in .jar in the BEA Products Installation Guide. This section describes the process of installing .jar files in the Graphical mode.

If your configuration includes the 64-bit version of BEA jRockit, your installation of WebLogic Portal is now complete. If your configuration includes the 32-bit version of BEA jRockit, however, you must also complete the following steps:

To install WebLogic Integration:

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/showallversions.jsp?family=WLI.
  2. Under the WebLogic Platform Package Installer, select Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (9, 10, x86, 64-bit Xeon/AMD64)
  3. Download the package installer .jar file.
  4. Install using the instructions provided in the "Using Installers with Filenames Ending in .jar" section of the WebLogic Server 9.2 Installation Guide.
  5. Set the BEA_HOME to point to the directory in which WebLogic Server is installed and export BEA_HOME. For example:

  2. From the list of OS Platforms for your ALSB release:
  1. Download the .bin package installer.
  2. Install BEA AquaLogic Service Bus by completing the console-mode installation procedure for .bin files available at
  1. Set the BEA_HOME variable to point to the directory in which AquaLogic Service Bus is installed and export BEA_HOME. For example:

    2. Download and Install WebLogic Portal 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on Itanium
    3. Download and Install WebLogic Integration 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 on Itanium
  2. Download and Apply BEA Patches

Download and Install WebLogic Server 9.2 and Later MPs on Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on Itanium

To install WebLogic Server on SUSE Linux Itanium:

  1. Go to the BEA download site at http://commerce.bea.com/showallversions.jsp?family=WLS.
  2. Under the WebLogic Server Package Installer, select Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (9, 10, Itanium) from the list of OS Platforms for your configuration.
