About the Tour

Welcome to the Portal Example—Visitor and Administrator Features tour. This tour helps you get acquainted with the portal features of BEA WebLogic Portal 7.0. Like the Portal Example—Portlet Features and Functionality tour, this tour uses the Avitek Financial Sample Portal. However, instead of focussing on portlet capability, this tour focuses on portal functionality. For information about the Portal Example—Portlet Features and Functionality tour, see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13218_01/wlp/docs70/samptour/index.htm.

This tour is consists of follow along, step-by-step instructions for changing the appearance and composition of the Avitek Financial Sample Portal application and its portlets, plus descriptive information about various portal features. In the first part of the tour, you become acquainted with the various visitor options—creating a new user; changing the color scheme (skin) of the portal; and adding, removing, and moving portlets. In the second part of the tour you learn about portal management—you do the same kinds of things for groups that you did for visitor options, plus you learn about entitlements, administrative privileges, and delegation.
