package examples.jdbc.t3client
about this package
This package contains several standalone WebLogic JDBC examples that can
be run independently. Each illustrates a particular JDBC-related task:
- bigblob shows a general method for handling SQL Server
text/image datatypes. It uses the textFile file also in this
directory. This example expects a Sybase database, although you can
substitute any database if you make the appropriate changes to the
properties before compiling.
- connectioncache demonstrates how a T3Client can create a
persistent Workspace and use it to a cache a JDBC Connection, to which
the client can return again and again. This example expects an Oracle
instance named DEMO with the "emp" table; you can set up this example
to use any database, and the SQL for creating the "emp" table is
in the examples/applets directory in "emp.sql."
- connectionpool shows how a T3Client application can use a
JDBC Connection from a connection pool. This example expects an Oracle
instance, although you can adjust the properties to match your
environment. Note that this example has certain restrictions on use;
read the Java file and check the documentation at Using
WebLogic JDBC.
- refreshpool illustrates how to determine if the
connections in a connection pool have gone stale (usually due to the
database shutting down) and how to refresh the pool to continue client
support.
- simpleselect shows how to select data and database
metadata, using a Statement, a ResultSet, and a ResultSetMetaData.
- storedprocs1 and storedprocs2 show how to create
and execute stored procedures and get results.
how to use this package
- Set up your development shell as described in Setting up your environment.
- To compile and run these examples, follow the instructions for
