Adding Virtual Directories for Siebel Mobile Applications

This task is a step in Process of Setting Up Siebel Mobile Connected Applications and is required if deploying your Siebel Mobile application in a new language.

Use the following procedure to run the new_virdirs script to add virtual directories for Siebel Mobile. You create virtual directories on a particular Web server where Siebel Web Server Extension (SWSE) is installed. You must create the virtual directories on every Web server that supports Siebel Mobile applications. For more information about creating custom virtual directories, see Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using.

For new installations of Siebel Mobile applications, the virtual directories are created by default in the language selected during Siebel CRM installation. For example, if ENU is the language selected, then virtual directories are automatically added for ENU. However, if you want to run your Siebel Mobile applications subsequently in a new language, then you must run new_virdirs for each language that must be supported, as shown in the following procedure.

To add virtual directories for Siebel Mobile applications

  1. Stop the Web server.

For more information about starting and stopping the Web server, see Siebel Installation Guide for the operating system you are using.

  2. Create a backup copy of each of the following files:
    • eapps.cfg
    • eapps_sia.cfg
    • Web server configuration files. For example, obj.conf, httpd.conf, and so on.
  3. From the EAPPWEB_HOME/config directory, execute the new_virdirs.sh or new_vdirs.bat script with the appropriate parameters shown in the following table.
    Operating System
    Parameters

    Microsoft Windows

Only one parameter is required on Windows:

    eappweb\config\new_virdirs.bat <LANG>

    Linux or UNIX

The script on UNIX operating systems accepts both <LANG> and <WEBSERVER_LOCATION>:

    ./new_virdirs.sh <LANGUAGES> <WEBSERVER_LOCATION>

    where:

    • LANGUAGES is a list of language codes, where a comma separates each code.
    • WEBSERVER_LOCATION identifies the folder where the Web server resides.

NOTE:  If execution of the new_virdirs.sh or new_vdirs.bat script fails, then you must restore all necessary files from the backup in Step 2.

  4. Restart the Web server.

Access the new components using the URL. For more information about the Siebel Mobile application URLs, see Logging In to Siebel Mobile Applications.
