An application may obtain a JEConnection in this manner:

    InitialContext iniCtx = new InitialContext();
    Context enc = (Context) iniCtx.lookup("java:comp/env");
    Object ref = enc.lookup("ra/JEConnectionFactory");
    JEConnectionFactory dcf = (JEConnectionFactory) ref;
    JEConnection dc = dcf.getConnection(envDir, envConfig);
