5 Enterprise Manager Grid Control Access

You can configure Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center and Grid Control to work together to monitor the entire asset stack in your data center. These software products monitor managed assets, or targets, in different sections of the stack:

Configuring Enterprise Manager Ops Center and Grid Control

When configured, you can view the status of targets that are being monitored by the Grid Control application, and launch the Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control console from either the Targets tab in the managed asset view, or from Administration in the Navigation pane.

To establish the connection, you configure the Enterprise Controller to communicate with the Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control repository. The Oracle Enterprise Manager user credentials that you provide must have access to the repository.

To Configure Ops Center and Grid Control

  1. Click Grid Control in the Administration section of the Navigation pane.

  2. Click Configure/Connect in the Actions pane.

  3. Enter the server name and port number for the Grid Control console. The default port is 7799.

  4. Enter the Grid Control database host name, port number, SID (Oracle System ID), user name and password. The default port is 1521.

  5. Click Finish.

Disconnecting Enterprise Manager Grid Control Access

You can disconnect and unconfigure the link between the Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center and Grid Control applications.

To Disconnect Enterprise Manager Grid Control Access

  1. Click Grid Control in the Administration section of the Navigation pane.

  2. Click Disconnect/Unconfigure in the Actions pane.

  3. Confirm the action.

Launching the Enterprise Manager Grid Control Console

When configured, you can launch the Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control console from Administration in the Navigation pane. If you installed the Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center plug-in, you can search for assets by the Infrastructure Stack target type and display monitoring information that was collected by Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center.

To Launch the Enterprise Manager Grid Control Console

  1. Click Grid Control in the Administration section of the Navigation pane.

  2. Click Grid Control Console in the Actions pane.
