In this chapter, you will decide on the delivery methods to provide the mass storage drivers and the Windows media for installation.

To select mass storage driver media and Windows Server media delivery methods, complete the following procedures:

Selecting a Delivery Method for Mass Storage Drivers.

Selecting a Windows Server Media Delivery Method.

After completing the above procedures, make a note of the delivery methods that you selected and proceed to Chapter 3.

Selecting a Delivery Method for Mass Storage Drivers

Note - Mass storage drivers are only required if your server module is equipped with a RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) Expansion Module (REM). If your server module is not equipped with a REM, you can skip this section.

There are three methods that can be used to provide the mass storage drivers for Windows Server installation on the Sun Blade X6440 server module.

Diskette Local: Uses a physical USB diskette drive externally connected to the USB port on the server module dongle. A USB hub may also be used.

Diskette Remote: Uses JavaRConsole to redirect the diskette device to a physical diskette drive on the system hosting the JavaRConsole.

Diskette Image: Uses JavaRConsole to redirect the diskette device to a diskette image file on the system hosting the JavaRConsole.

Select a delivery method in TABLE 2-1 that meets the needs of your environment. Make note of the delivery method you select.

Selecting a Windows Server Media Delivery Method

There are three delivery methods that can be used to provide the Windows media for Windows Server installation on the Sun Blade X6440 server module:

Windows Local: Uses the physical CD /DVD drive connected to the USB port on the server module dongle. A USB hub may also be used.

Windows Remote: Uses JavaRConsole to redirect the CD drive to a physical CD drive on the system hosting the JavaRConsole.

Windows Image: Uses JavaRConsole to redirect the CD drive to a Windows media image file on the system hosting the JavaRConsole.

Select a delivery method in TABLE 2-2 that meets the needs of your environment. Make a note of the delivery method you select.
