Web Server and Web Browser Special Conditions

• Sun(TM) WebServer(TM) Installation

  The Netra j 3.0 software includes the Sun WebServer 1.0 web server software. The Netra j 3.0 installation and upgrade scripts check to see if Sun WebServer software has been previously installed. If so, the scripts leave the present Sun WebServer software untouched. If the Sun WebServer software is missing, a fresh copy of Sun WebServer 1.0 is installed.

• Web Server Configuration

  Netra j 3.0 software requires and configures a Sun WebServer application at port 81 to provide Web browser access to the Netra j 3.0 administration interface. It also configures a Sun WebServer at port 80, if no Web server exists. See "Netra j 3.0 Web Servers" for more information.

• HotJava Views Administration

  The HotJava Views administration pages of the Netra j 3.0 interface use special features of the Java(TM) Development Kit (JDK(TM)) 1.1 that are not supported by industry-standard browsers. However, the HotJava Browser supplied with Netra j 3.0 does support these features. Use this browser for best results.

• HotJava Browser

  If the Netra j 3.0 server is to be administered from a client using HotJava Browser, make sure the HotJava Browser is configured as follows:

  • The preference for unsigned applet security is set to Medium

  • The preference for signed applet security is set to Low
