Runtime System and Build Information

The first thing that the spot command does is to record details of the system that was used to run the code and also of how the code was compiled. This can help to reproduce the same results at a later date.

The results in Figure 3–2 came from a Sun Fire™ V880 server with eight 900-MHz UltraSPARC® III+ processors running the Solaris 9 Operating System.

The build information reports that the code was compiled with the flags -g -O and -xbinopt=prepare.
