  • Communication Ports for receiving ebXML messages
  • Ports used by Secure Trading Agent or Apache Tomcat
  • Database specifications

For information on running the Control Panel, see the "Secure Trading Agent Administration" chapter of the Secure Trading Agent User's Guide.

Secure Trading Agent Services

Secure Trading Agent provides the following services:

  • Message Handler
  • The Secure Trading Agent message handler manages three services. It is responsible for sending and receiving messages between you and your trading partners. It also starts the Configuration Server, which manages users and passwords for Secure Trading Agent, and the HSQL database, which is the default database installed with Secure Trading Agent.

  • Sun Management Center service.
  • The Sun Management Center service manages the web server that runs the Secure Trading Agent Communications Center web application. This service is not necessary to run the ebScript utility, which is the command line equivalent of the Communications Center.

Details for managing Secure Trading Agent services vary by platform. For information about managing Secure Trading Agent services, see the "Secure Trading Agent Administration" chapter of the Secure Trading Agent User's Guide.

Registration for Secure Trading Agent

Secure Trading Agent contains a registration process that ensures that the product has been installed properly. The registration procedure should be run after Secure Trading Agent is installed and properly configured on your system. You should be logged in as the Secure Trading Agent administrator when running the registration process.

When you run the registration process, the installer creates the following ebXML agreements:

  • installation_verification.cpa
  • An agreement between you and the Sun registration server. This agreement contains a Send action that the Sun registration server uses to send an installation verification message to you. The installation_verification.cpa agreement contains the endpoints of your message handler, which the registration server needs to send the message.

  • sun_registration.cpa
  • An agreement that contains a Send action that sends the installation_verification.cpa to the Sun registration server as an attachment. When the Sun registration server downloads the agreement, it deploys it and then invokes the Send action that sends the installation verification message to you.

The registration process also creates the following ebScript file:

  • sun_registration.ebs
  • This script imports and deploys the agreements listed above into your Secure Trading Agent system, sends the installation_verification.cpa to the Sun registration server, and then listens for a response from the registration server.

The Secure Trading Agent Installer creates certificate and keystore files that are needed to deploy agreements and to send and receive messages between you and the Sun registration server. The generated scripts reference these certificates during the registration process.

Registration Procedure

The details of the registration procedures for Solaris and Windows platforms differ slightly.

To register Secure Trading Agent on Windows platforms

  1. Login as the Secure Trading Agent administrator.
  2. You should be the user with Secure Trading Agent administration privileges when running the registration process.
