The system experiences frequent hard resets when Oracle Linux 6.6 with the "freeipmi-bmc-watchdog" (watchdog timer) package is installed.

Affected hardware and software:

Sun Fire X4170 M2 Server
Sun Fire X4270 M2 Server
Oracle Linux 6.6
Release 1.7.4 through 1.10.1

Workaround:

Append a "-W ignorestateflag" option to the "/etc/sysconfig/bmc-watchdog" configuration file, and then restart the bmc-watchdog service. To restart the bmc-watchdog service, run the service bmc-watchdog restart command with root privileges.
