This manual explains how to install the SBus SCSI Host Adapter (SSHA) card in your SBus-based SPARC desktop system. The SSHA card lets you increase the number of SCSI ports available for adding peripherals such as disk drives, tape drives, and other SCSI devices.
The SSHA card is designed to be installed in SPARCstations running SunOS Version 4.1.1 or later and in SPARCstations running SunOS Version 4.1 (which requires kernel reconfiguration). The SSHA card is also supported by Solaris 2.x or any other compatible operating system. Before you begin installing, you need to determine which version of SunOS you are running, as described in Chapter 1, "Installing Your SSHA Card."
Note -
If you are installing your SSHA card in a SPARCstation 1, you need to
determine which version of your open boot PROM you are running. Make sure
that your open boot PROM is version 1.3 or greater, as described in Chapter 1,
"Installing Your SSHA Card."
If your open boot PROM is an earlier version, you need to replace the boot
PROM on your CPU board. For more information, go to "Getting Help" in the
Preface.
You can install up to three SSHA cards in a SPARCstation 2 (4/75).
