Figure B-3 shows power distribution. AC input power is routed to the power supply via a 30-ampere circuit breaker in the fan tray.

The 650-watt power supply provides +5 and +12 volt DC to supply the disk cards via the backplane (this +12 is for reference only). The disk card has an on-board DC-DC converter to create +12 from the +5 volt DC (from the backplane) to power the disk drives. The supply also produces +12 volt DC to power the fan tray.
