Installing the Sun Control Station CC Edition Software

This chapter describes how to download and install the Sun Control Station software, and how to log in to the browser interface.

How to Download and Install the Sun Control Station CC Edition Software

Caution - You mustinstall the Sun Control Station CC Edition software on a local file system of your server. You cannot install it on a remotely mounted file system.

1. Download the Sun Control Station software from the Sun Download Center.

Solaris 9 OS: pop-s9.tar.gz

Solaris 10 OS: pop-s10.tar.gz

2. As the root user, extract the software packages from the downloaded file.

# mkdir /tmp/pop

# cp pop-s9.tar.gz /tmp/pop

# cd /tmp/pop

# gzip -d pop-s9.tar.gz

# tar -xvf pop-s9.tar

Note - You can use either gzip or gunzip to unzip the tar.gz files.

3. If the prerequisite packages (SFWmysql, SFWgcmn, and SFWncur) are not already installed on the system, install them.

4. Install the Sun Control Station software.

# cd /tmp/pop

# ./install.sh

See Installed Software Components for the list of software components that are installed.

5. If the WBEM patch is installed, reboot your system to successfully complete the installation.

How to Log in to the Sun Control Station Application

After you install the Sun Control Station software, you can access the application through the browser interface.

1. Open a browser window and type:

http://IP-address-of-server/

If you do not want to use the SSL connection, type the following URL:

http://IP-address-of-server:8080/sdui/

Note - If you get an error when you go to http://host-name/, go to http://host-name:8080/sdui/ instead.

The Login page appears.

2. Type the user name admin and the password admin.

3. Click Login.

The Sun Control Station CC Edition home page appears.

4. Change the admin password from the Station Settings menu the first time that you log in.
