Troubleshooting |
This chapter covers the following DMM installation error messages and troubleshooting tips:
If you did not click Create Company when you created your root administrator account, you will not be able to download the installation package from the Sun Net Connect site. The following instructions assume you have already created an account as a root administrator, but did not create a company.
Perform the following steps to create a company:
1. At the Sun Net Connect Home page, click Company List.
3. Complete the required fields.
5. Select the company and click Make Active.
6. Click Sun Net Connect Home and click Download Data Manager Module.
If you receive the following message, the DMM installation failed because the Sun Control Station is not installed:
Finished with proxy installation
Copying config and certs for dmm
Finished with copy
Starting dmm installation
./install.sh: /scs/sbin/moduleMgr.pl: not found
Cleaning up...
Finished with dmm installation
Currently leaving behind: /var/tmp/pop_all_info
which contains all config info. If this installation was successful
you can probably remove this directory and its contents.
Exiting install program.

The messages Envelope send failure: no message or Envelope send failure: Empty reply from server indicate that your monitored system is installed and running, but is not able to communicate with the Sun Net Connect Data Center. The following reasons can cause this error to occur:
Perform the following steps to edit the Send-Base-URL value:
1. As the root user, open the /etc/opt/SUNWsrspx/srsproxyconfig.cfg file on the monitored system.
2. Edit the SEND_BASE_URL value.
3. Find the srsproxy process that is running and stop it so that it rereads the configuration file.
4. Verify that srsproxy is running under a new process ID.
5. Check the syslog file for warnings. It is located in the /var/adm/messages file. Verify that a line containing the phrase ...srsproxy started appears.
The message Permission denied indicates that you do not have the necessary privileges in the directory. You must have read, write, and execute privileges in the directory where you downloaded the installation package.
The message installf: ERROR: bad entry read in contents file indicates a corrupt package database.
The message error tar: directory checksum error indicates an extraction error. Download the installation package again from the https://srsnetconnect.sun.com website. Extract the package by typing:
# tar -xvf dmm.001.001.000.tar.
If the Sun Control Station Data Manager Status page shows that the DMM is not responding, restart the DMM, as described in Starting the DMM.
