Virtual Networks Task Map

This table lists the tasks for configuring a virtual network, including links to the specific tasks. Note that not all tasks will apply to your virtual network scenario.

Task
Description
For Instructions
Create VNICs in the system.
Create one or more virtual network interfaces (VNICs). VNICs are the pseudo-interfaces upon which you build the virtual network
Create etherstubs in the system.
Create one or more etherstubs. Etherstubs are virtual switches that allow you to create a private virtual network that is isolated from the larger network.
Create zones to use VNICs.
Creates VNICs and new zones and configure these to create a basic virtual network.
Modify zones to use VNICs.
Changes an existing zone to become a virtual network.
Create a private virtual network.
Configures a private network that is isolated from the larger network by using etherstubs and VNICs.
Remove VNICs.
Remove VNICs that were assigned to a zone without deleting the zone itself.
