Starting with Oracle Solaris 11.2, a new user_reserve_hint_pct tunable parameter provides a hint to the system about application memory usage. This hint is used to limit the growth of ZFS Adaptive Replacement Cache (ARC) cache so that more memory can be made available for applications.
