This section describes the application compatibility issues in the Oracle Solaris 11.4 release.
The /etc/TIMEZONE link is obsolete because time zone information is no longer kept in the /etc/default/init file. The /etc/TIMEZONE link is removed in Oracle Solaris 11.4. This missing link can generate warning messages such as the following message from the Enterprise Manager Agent emctl command:
$ emctl status dbconsole grep: can't open /etc/TIMEZONE Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control Release 11.2.0.4.0 ... Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.
Workaround: None. Such warning messages can be ignored.
Running VirtualBox on an Oracle Solaris x64 host system with Supervisor Mode Access Prevention (SMAP) enabled might panic the host with a message similar to the following:
BAD TRAP: type=e (#pf Page fault) rp=fffffffc802c98e0 addr=ffff80ffbc8ff5e0 occurred in module "<unknown>" due to an illegal access to a user address
Workaround: Run the sxadm disable smap command and reboot before starting VirtualBox.
