Roadmap: Working with manual queries

Users with the appropriate rights, typically clinical data managers and medical monitors, issue manual queries while reviewing visits and forms. As with automatic queries, manual queries must be answered before the visit or form can be completed.

While reviewing a visit or form, you question a value.

  1. Select Patients (Patients icon. Click to navigate to the Patient List page.).
  2. Click the Summary link for the patient.
  3. Expand a visit by clicking the arrow to the left of the visit name.
  4. Expand a form by clicking the arrow to the left of the form name.

You issue a query at the patient, visit, form, or item level.

  1. Select the checkbox for the patient, visit, form, or item. You can select multiple checkboxes.
  2. Click the Create Query icon (Manual status icon. Click to create a query.).

In the dialog box, you provide a reason for the query.

  1. From the Query Selection drop-down list, select the query to issue.
  2. To write your own query, select Other from the Query Selection drop-down list and type the query in the Other Text box.

    The OutcomeLogix application displays an Open query status icon () next to the patient, visit, form, and item.

A site user, typically an investigator or clinical research coordinator, responds to the query. The status changes to Answered.

  1. Select Queries (1Queries_icon).

    The Query List page appears.

  2. Select an open query by clicking a field that is not underlined.

    The query information appears on the Query Detail page on the Answer tab.

  3. In the Change Data field, change or leave the value.
  4. From the Site Response drop-down list, select the reason for the changed answer.
  5. If you select Other, type the reason in the Site Response Other Text box.
  6. Click Submit.

You review the answer.

  • If satisfied, change the status to Approved.
  • If dissatisfied, re-issue the query.
  • Add a note to the query, if desired.
  1. On the Query List page, select a query with Answered in the Status column.

    The query information appears on the Query Detail page on the Answer tab.

  2. In the Change Status field, click Approve or Re-issued as Open.
  3. If desired, add a note in the Notes text box.
  4. Click Submit.
