Executive Update

Hear Paco Aubrejuan, Oracle's Senior Vice President address Oracle's PeopleSoft investment strategy, support plans, and the state of the PeopleSoft customer base.

PeopleSoft investment strategy

Oracle has kept our promise to PeopleSoft customers that we will ensure their investment in PeopleSoft is safe. We have supported and invested in PeopleSoft for 20 years, longer than PeopleSoft was an independent company. And we currently do not have a planned date when we will stop this support. We have delivered thousands of features and hundreds of new releases over the past 20 years and continue to deliver more each quarter.

At a high level, Oracle’s investment strategy for PeopleSoft is:

  • Maintain the rolling 10-year support model, so PeopleSoft customers can make enterprise software decisions based on their business priorities. Then, we can earn your cloud applications business when the time comes.
  • Reduce the cost to run PeopleSoft. This includes powerful configuration tools that eliminate invasive customizations, improvements in lifecycle management, enabling autonomous patching, test automation, and running PeopleSoft on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Build new strategic capabilities that deliver immediate value to the line of business and end users. Notable examples include new fluid features, search-first navigation, PeopleSoft Insights, real-time indexing, the new Notification Composer, and many, many more.
  • Deliver functional product enhancements that customers request. In every image, we deliver improvements to products that customers suggest and vote on in the Ideas Lab.
  • Provide legislative updates in the product areas that customers depend on – like Payroll, Benefits, Financials, Campus Solutions financial aid, and many more.
  • Enable cloud options with PeopleSoft. We ensure customers can take advantage of high-value cloud capabilities while continuing to run PeopleSoft—capabilities such as software-provisioned cloud infrastructure, AI and machine learning, digital assistants, and guided learning to name a few.

By the numbers

  • Thousands of customers.
  • Three HCM releases a year.
  • Three ERP releases a year.
  • Three Campus Solutions releases a year.
  • Two Cloud Manager releases a year.
  • One PeopleTools release every 15–18 months.

The state of PeopleSoft

Thousands of customers continue to run PeopleSoft, across all regions, industries, and product areas. Customers are making a wide variety of investments, depending on their strategic priorities. Many customers are now running PeopleSoft on OCI while they adopt new features, exploit new capabilities in PeopleTools, and shift from costly customizations to flexible configuration.

While the PeopleSoft blog and video channels are a great way to monitor what the product team delivers, the PeopleSoft Innovators program is the best source to see what customers are doing. With more than 200 published stories directly from customers, the program offers an invaluable body of knowledge on the state of PeopleSoft, like:

  • The U.S. Army’s recent deployment of PeopleSoft HR to over one million soldiers.
  • Cognizant’s move to OCI bringing all PeopleSoft environments with 340,000 end users and more than 180 system interfaces into the cloud.
  • Saint Paul Public Schools’ multi-year applications and technology transformation initiative.
  • Kaiser Permanente’s continued investment in PeopleSoft FSCM while they now run Oracle Cloud HCM.

The 2024 PeopleSoft Innovators report analyzes 140 stories published over the last four years to identify useful trends and insights. A few examples include:

  • 85% of all Innovators were recognized for investments that improved the experience for their PeopleSoft users. One-third of all Innovators deployed PeopleSoft Insights.
  • The top three PeopleSoft HCM features deployed over the last four years were HR Health and Safety, HCM fluid WorkCenters, and fluid timesheets. Remote Worker saw rapid and widespread adoption after the pandemic.
  • Navigation search is seeing increasing adoption, eliminating the need for end users to remember navigation paths using menus or tiles.
  • For customers that move PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, the most common benefits shared are (1) improved performance, typically 30% or more, (2) cost savings of 20% to 50%, with some as high as 75%, (3) platform stability, and (4) security.
  • The top three tools to eliminate or reduce invasive customizations are event mapping, Page and Field Configurator, and drop zones.
  • Most customers have established a selective adoption strategy that includes getting current every 12–18 months. Test automation is seeing increasing investment, yielding significant savings in both time and effort.

Find a partner

PeopleSoft remains supported by a strong community of partners—from large global firms to boutique agencies. The following resources can help you find a partner for your next investment:

Unique support model

Back in 2018, Oracle introduced an unprecedented, rolling 10-year support model, providing PeopleSoft customers with confidence and laying the foundation for our product investment strategy. Oracle continues to deliver on that promise year after year. Why it works:

  • Each year, Oracle reaffirms the support commitment by extending the PeopleSoft support date by another year, maintaining the rolling 10-year support window. This occurs annually and will continue until Oracle’s strategy for PeopleSoft changes.
  • If a strategic change occurs in the future, PeopleSoft customers will have 10 years to assess the impact to their PeopleSoft systems and respond.
  • Ten years is a long time, particularly in software, and ensures that even the largest and most complex organizations have the critical predictability to manage their business systems with confidence.
