BITS deploys fluid self service for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.

Summary

The Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani, in conjunction with Kovaion Consulting, upgraded their PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.0 application to the latest database, PeopleTools, and PUM application versions. This upgrade saw the launch of PeopleSoft Fluid Self Service for the students of BITS Pilani across all locations to enhance the student user experience.

About the customer

BITS is a leading institute of higher education and a deemed university offering degree programmes in engineering, sciences, technology, pharmacy, management, and humanities. Ranked #1 in private engineering colleges with the best placement record in India per “India Today Ranking 2021,” the institute is a dream come true of its founder, the late Mr. G.D. Birla—an eminent industrialist and a participant in Indian freedom struggles. BITS has four established campuses: Pilani (Rajasthan), Goa, Hyderabad, and Dubai.

 

About the project

BITS' IT team planned to upgrade their PeopleSoft Campus Solutions to the latest version, considering a host of new features and technologies released by Oracle in the latest versions.

The popularity of smartphones has increased the demand for PeopleSoft applications to run on mobile devices. Self-service plays a major role in student registration and maintaining personal information. Fluid self-services pages can be accessed from various device types, which enables access of the application outside the campus by students to view and update their personal information, grade information, and so on.

BITS' key objectives for the upgrade of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions were to:

  • Accelerate PeopleSoft transformation by implementing fluid selfservice.
  • Increase and optimize the user experience.
  • Reduce the time in accessing the student center and other crucial pages by users.
  • Provide access to various custom reports and components via single custom tile linked to a dashboard.

The BITS team completed the very first student registration event after the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2 upgrade. The complex student registration activity at BITS, which needs the participation of multiple academic teams across all campuses were handled very successfully on a transformed, user-friendly Campus Solutions application.
