How to Use a Smart Card to ssh to a Remote GNOME Desktop

Before You Begin

Your administrator has completed How to Configure a Remote X11 Desktop.

  • You can log in from the command line or from a client application that calls the XDMCP chooser.
    • Use the –X option to the ssh command.
      $ ssh -X GNOME-desktop-server

      For more information, see the ssh(1) man page.

    • Call the XDMCP chooser from a client application for remote X11 desktop display.

      Possible client applications include Hummingbird.
