Quick Edit properties are asset properties that perform specific tasks, for example, they can create, duplicate or update an existing asset. These properties allow a site administrator to modify or make a copy of an existing site, and make changes to the asset properties of the new site.

Quick Edit properties are defined at the asset type level using view mapping, enabling assets of the same type to have a set of common Quick Edit properties. Refer to Quick Edit View Mappings for information on creating view mappings.

An asset type can have one or more sets of defined Quick Edit properties, resulting in Quick Edit property sets. These sets perform a specific operation. When an operation has an associated Quick Edit property set, the site administrator can accept or overwrite the values for the specified properties to complete the operation.

In Site Administration, Quick Edit properties support the duplication of a single site. Note that multiple sites cannot be created during the site duplication process. The new asset is not created until the required properties that were defined in the Quick Edit list have been created. The Quick Edit property set for duplicate item view mapping are:

If Quick Edit properties are not defined for the asset type, the system applies the default rules to the property.

The values of the original site are copied to the new site. The Created By/Date and Last Modified By/Date contain the user name and date of the copy, not of the original site. Refer to Creating Quick Edit Properties View Mappings for additional information.

Note: When a site is duplicated, its site group memberships are not copied. Newly created sites do not belong to any site groups.
