Drive Groups

A drive group is a logical object that manages a collection of drives of the same Storage Class, all of which are from the same Drive Enclosure. The maximum number of drive groups in the Oracle FS System is 1024.

A drive group belongs to a single Storage Domain. A drive group can also be unassigned, which means that the group can be assigned to any Storage Domain.

Managing the drive groups involves the following activities:

Assigning the primary drive group to another drive group in the system
Removing drive groups from a Storage Domain
Adding drive groups to a Storage Domain
Viewing the status of the drives in a drive group
Viewing the RAID status across all of the volumes that occupy the drive groups
