Identify the Component

Sometimes you might want to locate a specific Pilot, Controller, or Drive Enclosure in the Oracle FS System. For example, when replacing a field replaceable unit (FRU) in a particular Controller, it would be useful to be able to identify the target Controller.

To identify particular Pilots, Controllers, and Drive Enclosures, you can request that the system flash the LEDs on a specific Pilot, Controller, or Drive Enclosure. If the Pilot, Controller, or Drive Enclosure is powered off, you can request that the system flash all of the LEDs on all hardware except for the target. This is known as reverse identify. In a crowded data center, the flashing LEDs allow you to locate the Pilot, Controller, or Drive Enclosure on which you want to perform maintenance.

Note: For more information on identifying hardware components, refer to the Oracle FS System Service Guide.
