Displaying License Plate Information (WLPN)
Purpose: Use the Display License Plate option to review LPNs on your system, and to delete outdated LPN records.
The information you can display through this option includes:
• item/SKU codes and descriptions
• unit quantity
• current warehouse and location
• date created
• information on most recent activity
You may need to delete an LPN if there has been any activity regarding the LPN made through standard CWSerenade functions, as opposed to radio frequency transactions, which caused a discrepancy. Except for purchase order receiving, standard CWSerenade functions do not create or update LPN records. For example, the following activities may have created discrepancies between LPN records and actual inventory levels:
• picking out of a non-primary location
• adjustments to on-hand quantities or transfers made through Work with Inventory Transactions
• making up finished goods through Work with Inventory Transactions
If activities such as the above have made an LPN's unit quantity out of synch with actual inventory levels, you can use the Adjust LPN option available on the RF menus to correct it. However, the system may require you to use the Display License Plate menu option to delete any LPN record with a zero quantity.
LPN creation history: When an LPN is created through Receiving, Physical Inventory, Inventory Transaction, or the Create LPN Screen, the system also creates a record in the LPN Creation History table, providing details of the LPN: LPN number, associated PO number (if any), LPN quantity, date and time created, item/SKU, warehouse, location, user ID, and the program that created the LPN.

Field |
Description |
LPN# License plate number |
A number to identify a case of inventory in your warehouse. LPNs facilitate the use of radio frequency devices to manage inventory movement and location. The system normally assigns an LPN to a case when you receive a purchase order, and deletes the LPN when you put the case away in a primary location. See Radio Frequency Overview. You can also use the LPN field in combination with any of the other fields available for scanning. Numeric, 6 positions; optional. |
Item |
This code identifies the unit of inventory contained by the LPN. Item codes are defined in and validated against the Item table. Alphanumeric, 12 positions; optional. |
SKU |
The item's unique characteristics, such as its color and size. SKU codes are defined in and validated against the SKU table. Alphanumeric, three 4-position fields (split SKU); optional. |
Description |
The first 20 positions of the item’s description. Alphanumeric, 20 positions; display-only. |
Whs Warehouse |
The code representing the warehouse where the LPN is located. Warehouse codes are defined in and validated against the Warehouse table. Numeric, 3 positions; optional. |
Location |
This code represents a bin, shelf, or other storage area within a warehouse, or the “intransit” location which indicates that an LPN is in the process of being moved. Location codes are defined in and validated against the Location table. Numeric, 7 positions; optional. |
Qty Quantity |
The unit quantity contained by the LPN. Numeric, 7 positions; display-only. |
Screen Option |
Procedure |
Delete an LPN |
Select Delete for an LPN to delete it. See Deleting an LPN. You cannot delete an LPN that is part of a physical inventory. |
Display LPN detail |
Select Display for an LPN to advance to the Display License Plate Screen (LPN Detail). |
Purpose: Select Delete at the Display License Plates Screen to delete an LPN if the LPN information is no longer in synch with actual inventory information; this might occur because of inventory activity that took place outside of the radio frequency subsystem. You might also need to delete an LPN if, for example, you created the record in error.
If you select Delete at the Confirm Delete window, the Affect Inventory window opens.
At this window, you should:
• Select the Affect inventory field if you want to delete the LPN and subtract the LPN unit quantity from the on-hand quantity for the item;
• Unselect the Affect inventory field if you want to delete the LPN without affecting the item's on-hand quantity; or,
• Select Exit to cancel.
Display License Plate Screen (LPN Detail)
Purpose: Use this screen to review detail information for an LPN record.
How to display this screen: Select Display for an LPN at the Display License Plates Screen.
Each field on this screen is display-only.
