The first time you log into the Oracle FS System you should perform several configuration tasks.
Set and synchronize the Oracle FS System time with external time servers.
Define the networking properties, which include the following tasks:
Define and configure the IP addressing and the IP characteristics of the management ports.
Define an email server in your network that can receive Oracle FS System alerts and can forward them to administrator email accounts, for example, to be used to recover account credentials.
Enable Call‑Home, a feature that notifies Oracle about issues in the system. The Call‑Home feature of Oracle FS System Manager (GUI) is integrated with Oracle Auto Service Request (ASR).
Create extra Storage Profiles, if needed.
Define session time-out periods and failed login attempts.
Create extra administrator accounts, especially an account assigned the Administrator 1 role.
Define SNMP host settings.
The success of other configuration tasks depends on the system-wide settings. For example, if you do not configure the email server, the system cannot send alerts or the information needed to reset an administrator password.
