Labor Category Master

Labor categories are used for reporting the number of hours worked and the associated labor costs. For example, you can create separate categories for tipped and non-tipped employees to track and analyze the impact of tip credit upon labor costs. Within the Tipped labor category, you can include job definitions such as server, bartender, food runner, and bus boy. Within the Non-Tipped labor category, you can include job definitions such as hostess, line cook, dishwasher, and food prep.

Note how in the example both Tipped and Non-Tipped categories include employees from both front of house and back of house. Labor category masters are usually more generic than job category masters in order to encompass as many job definitions as possible. However, it is up to the enterprise to determine how labor categories collect employees.
