The Secure Sockets Layer protocol that protects the privacy and integrity of data being transferred across a network. Base SSL provides security by encrypting communications among Guided Search components. In addition to using encryption, mutually authenticated SSL provides a higher level of security by forcing each component to use a certificate to confirm its identity to other components.
