All changes made to basic data on the server database
(e.g. item, department, price, etc.) are stored in a log file. The log files
created and their current size can be called up with button Installation state in update program Installation.
Note!
The number of log files to be
stored can be limited to a specific number by entering a value in field
"Count days hold log" in program Application -> Installation ->
Add.texts,option. Older log files can be deleted with
report "Clear old LOGFILES".
The following information is displayed in window
"Installations Zustand":
·
Log number:
The number of the current log file is displayed in this field.
·
Log position:
The position no. of the current log file for which the last update was
completed is displayed in this field.
·
Oldest log number:
The number of the oldest log file in directory "work.srv"
is shown in this field.
·
Worked standalone:
The server operates as standalone (without master).
·
Backup is master:
The backup master has been switched over as master.
The log files can be found in directory work.srv
on the server database e.g. LOGFILE.1, LOGFILE.2 etc.. Log files are only
generated up to a size of approx. 1Mb and are stored with a consecutive no., e.g. LOGFILE.1, LOGFILE.2
etc. When the prescribed size is exceeded, the next log file is generated
automatically with the next consecutive no., e.g. LOGFILE.2.
The data shown in the log files is used to send data
on which basic data has been changed on the server data base to the
sub-installations and clients after an offline condition (see Update
installation).
The client database is permanently updated in the
background; the client databases are only updated with the help of the log
files after offline has been remedied. If the log files required for automatic
update of the client database have been deleted (e.g. due to an offline
situation), the client databases will be completely loaded.
The sub-installation is updated after activation of
button Update installation.
All existing log files with the appropriate update
item are shown after activation of button Installation
state. Older log files used to update a
sub-installation can then be cleared, if necessary.
