Structure of an EAN Code
Most items are supplied with an EAN barcode.
The following image displays the structure of a
“normal” EAN code. The EAN Press Code is
explained in the appropriate place. The parameter settings for EAN codes can be
found in the chapter Parameter Settings for EAN
Codes.

Identification number
- Identification number that allows the system to
identify /interprete the 13-digit EAN. In the example above, the item is
recognized as a scale item.
Field 1
- The actual item/item group/department number.
With this number, the item has been created in the window Item.
1st Check digit
- Check digit for the digits 8 - 12
Field 2
- e.g. statements on price, quantity, weight (here:
weight)
2nd Check digit
- Check digit for the entire EAN
