Definition of the Default Language
The
definition of the default language depends on the operating system and the
mode.
- Singleuser
Mode (UNIX and Windows NT)

Mode (UNIX and Windows NT)
Singleuser Mode
- Sign on as "root" <su root>. You
are signed on as root if the
first character of a line is a #.
- Enter the directory bin <# cd
/usr/oscar/oscar.d/bin>
- Change the access rights <# chmod 777
oscar.def>
- Run the editor <# vi oscar.def>
- Search for MICROS Retail OSCAR POSLANG <[ESC] / MICROS Retail OSCAR POSLANG
- Now you have the following text passage:

The
entry "MICROS Retail OSCAR POSLANG=2 # English is default language" shows you that
"English" is embedded as a default language.
- Overwrite the number with the one of the desired
language (as it is stored in the system). A list of the numbers and
languages can be found in the chapter Embedding
a new Language in the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application. (If you opened the file
to be edited via vi, characters can be deleted via the command <ESC> x
and inserted via <ESC>
i.)
- Save your entries and leave the editor (with vi:
<ESC> : wq).
- The change of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS default language is
complete.
- Note:
Via the Language Selection Panel in the Program Dispatch,
you can change the language any time you like. The setting will last until
you select another language or end the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application and rerun it.
