Language
The
program description deals with the following:
The
following describes how languages (from help, menu texts, etc.) can be
programmed (or how existing languages can be changed). The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
application allows up to 99 languages to be embedded in the application. Please
note, however, that the number of buttons which can be displayed for the
language selection is limited in the dispatcher.
NOTE:
Three
important steps should be carried out in the sector "Embedding new
languages":
- The language must have been programmed with System
-> User interface -> Language.
- The various help, menu texts, etc. must have been
translated to the language concerned and then embedded. The procedure is
described under Embed new language in MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application.
- The language is selected via the button in the
dispatcher or after sign-on. Information can be found under Language selection. The documentation Define standard language describes
how the standard language is defined.
Attention!
- If changes have been made (translations of mask
texts, online help texts, etc.) these must be sent to the R&D
department in Berlin. This will ensure that the changes are integrated in
the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application and can be found in the next release or update.
The
following details all options available for update of the basic data.
The
following applies to this program:
- The entry mask may differ in
your MICROS Retail OSCAR POS program depending on the set-up of the user program. Some data fields may be missing.
- Some data fields may have defaults or defined
selection options so that they cannot be updated in this program.
- The entry mask may contain fields with enforced
entries, and in other fields entries may be optional.
- If the data record is updated over several pages
of entry masks the dialog
window is reached by clicking on the
appropriate button with <Mouse key 1>.
- The procedure is the same if you want to call up
another update program from this program.
- In some cases you may find the so-called.
"Switches" which are either activated or deactivated - depending
on the setting - by clicking with <Mouse key 1>. Activated switches
have a dark top, deactivated switches are lighter.
Language
Valid entry range: numeric 1 - 99
If
a new language is programmed, a free no. should be entered. The entry of a new
number must be discussed with MICROS Retail Deutschland GmbH because the code page
to be loaded has to be integrated. Changes or clear operations are possible
after entry of the appropriate no.

Note!
The value for the environment variable
in file oscar.ini "InternalCodePage=0-7" for
the conversion of the code page table must be set correctly to ensure that the
correct code page table for the user interface and the input/output of the
connected peripheral equipment is supported by the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application.
The
following value sectors (at present 0 - 7) are permitted as per the operation
system (UNIX / LINUX / WINDOWS) in use:
- 0 = CP ISO 8859-1 (UNIX / LINUX) /1252 WINDOWS
- 1 = CP ISO 8859-2 (UNIX / LINUX)
- 2 = CP ISO 8859-15 (UNIX / LINUX)
- 3 = WINDOWS 1250 (Eastern Europe)
- 4 = WINDOWS (Turkish)
- 5 = WINDOWS (Baltic)
- 6 = WINDOWS (Cyrillic)
- 7 = WINDOWS (Greek)
Note:
- Number assignment can only be done by MICROS
Retail Deutschland GmbH.
- The name of the language cannot be changed.
Entry range permitted: max. 20 alphanumeric chars.
Enter
the name of a new language.
Entry range permitted: max. 1 alphanumeric char.
Enter
the abbreviation for Yes answers.
Entry range permitted: max. 1 alphanumeric char.
Enter
the abbreviation for No answers.
Entry range permitted: max. 1 alphanumeric pos.
Enter
the separator for the decimals ("," or ".").
Field with firmly defined selection options
The
standard MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application has several code pages firmly defined. Select
the required language by clicking on the button of the selection window and
confirming the selection with a second click.
