Configuration of Radio Terminals
The
MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application supports the operation of radio terminals of the types
Orderman and Piccolo. Both terminal types are usually deployed in the
hospitality business e.g. in outside areas. The operation is similar to this of
the stationary operating modules, i.e. the entries will be made via the
freely-programmable keyboard and the input and output will be shown on the
display of the radio terminal.
The configuration of a radio terminal is carried out
in the following order:
- MICROS Retail OSCAR POS DEVICE
Configure a Process Unit of the type MICROS Retail OSCAR POS DEVICE at the System Unit at which the base unit of the radio
terminals is to be connected, or check if such a process unit already
exists.
- DEVICES RADIO TERMINALS
Maintain the device data of the type Orderman
or Piccolo to store the corresponding Devices
with a particular number in the system. Assign these
devices to the process unit of the type MICROS Retail OSCAR POS DEVICE.
Select the Interface via which the base unit
is connected to the system unit.
- MICROS Retail OSCAR POS CLIENT
Configure a Process Unit of the type MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
CLIENT for each radio terminal.
- DEVICES REMOTE
Maintain the device data of the type Remote to store the corresponding Devices with a particular number in the system.
Select the Interface 99 = NULL.
Assign these devices to the process unit of the type MICROS Retail OSCAR POS CLIENT and
link each remote device to the device radio terminal of the process unit
of the type MICROS Retail OSCAR POS DEVICE.
- TERMINAL
Create a terminal record with the update
program Terminals and assign it to the relevant process unit to which the
device of the type Radio terminal is connected.
- KEYBOARD
Please note that an appropriate keyboard must
have been configured for the special keyboard layout of the radio
terminal. Since the number of keys for the radio terminal is limited, all
keys can be switched to a second level via the <Shift> key. The key
function of the <Shift> key is HFSHIFT.
