MICROS Retail OSCAR POS Wizard
From
the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS version 3.0 on, the configuration of an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS system can be
carried out by use of a wizard. The usage of a wizard requires the existence of
the corresponding configuration files that are to be read by the wizard.
The following program description deals with:
Creating the Configuration Files necessary for the Wizard
Usage of the Wizard for the Configuration of MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
The
configuration files necessary for the wizard have to be created on an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
server and copied to the following directories.
- oscardirectory/wizard/asc
- oscardirectory/wizard/disable
- oscardirectory/wizard/xml
Files in the Directory \wizard\asc
In
this directory, the specific text files ("DbText.asc" und "UiText.asc")
for an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application are stored. For the differentiation of the
specific application, these files are to be marked by the name of the
application.
e.g.
- DbText.asc.Combi
DbText file for reading in the database
texts for the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application "Combi".
- UiText.asc.Combi
UiText file for reading in the texts
for the graphic user interface for the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application
"Combi".
- DbText.asc.Hospitality
DbText file for reading in the database
texts for the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application "Hospitality".
- UiText.asc. Hospitality
UiText file for reading in the texts
for the graphic user interface for the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application " Hospitality".
- DbText.asc.Retail
DbText file for reading in the database
texts for the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application "Retail".
- UiText.asc.Retail
UiText file for reading in the texts
for the graphic user interface for the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application
"Retail".
Files in the Directory \wizard\disable
In
this directory, the specific parameter files for disabling particular fields in
the input masks are stored.
These files are to be created by use of the command
"oscar getDisabledFields.fgl Language". The output of this file takes place in the directory
..\work\DisabledFields.txt.
This file must be renamed with the name of the specific application and copied
to the directory "\wizard\disable".
e.g.
- DisabledFields.Combi
This file contains the parameters for
disabling particular fields in the input masks of the graphic user
interface for an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application "Combi".
- DisabledFields.Hospitality
This file contains the parameters for
disabling particular fields in the input masks of the graphic user
interface for an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application "Hospitality"
- DisabledFields.Retail
This file contains the parameters for
disabling particular fields in the input masks of the graphic user
interface for an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application "Retail"
Before
executing the command "oscar getDisabledFields.fgl Sprache", an MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
application must be configured accordingly, i.e. the fields that are not to be
displayed in the input masks must be disabled in the update program System
-> User Interface -> Form -> Form Fields.
Files in the Directory \wizard\xml
In
this directory, the specific *.xml files for the configuration of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS
database are stored.
These
files are to be created via the program System -> User Interface -> Applications -> Reports
by use of the following three reports:
- LstWizardExtractInst
Creates the XML configuration files
(*.dev.xml) for devices with a selected process unit. This file can be
selected by the user with the later usage of the wizard.
- LstWizardExtractComp
Creates the XML configuration files
(*.com.xml) for a selected company. This file can be selected by the user
with the later usage of the wizard.
- LstWizardExtractBrch
Creates the XML configuration files
(*.branch.xml) for a selected branch. This file can be selected by the
user with the later usage of the wizard.
Apart
from the selection fields, every report contains a comment field in which an
expressive text for the XML file has to be entered. This text will be used for
the generation of the file name to allow the operator to select the file when
using the wizard later.
Example:
With the input of the comment "Top Cash, TMT-5000", a file with the
name "topcashtmt5000.dev.xml"
is generated.
The
output of these files takes place in the directory ..\work\*.*.xml. These files
must be copied to the directory "\wizard\xml",
to enable the wizard to use them later.
The
wizard can be started from the directory..\work\ of the MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application
by use of the following commands.
- oscar UiWizard.fgl
Starts the wizard in English.
- oscar UiWizard.fgl Deutsch
Starts the wizard in German.
- oscar UiWizard.fgl English Ui
Starts the wizard in English,
exclusively for the configuration of the graphic user interface.
- oscar UiWizard.fgl Deutsch Ui

(DisabledFields.name)
- oscardirectory/wizard/xml
