Remarks on program function

The data for keyboard of type Generic COM device can be updated, i.e. created, changed or deleted, with this program. Data which has already been stored can be displayed.

This device is similar to the Generic PS2 device. It allows for connection of read-only devices, e.g. magnetic card readers, waiter lock, scanner or central lock. This device also supports the operation of two devices on one COM interface, e.g. Generic display.

Note:
The MICROS Retail OSCAR POS application allows the configuration of 3 different generic entry devices; two for connection to the PS2 interface and one for connection to the COM interface.

Debug

Only select a value higher than "0" for the debug level if an error analysis or if a protocol for the communication of this device is required to identify the key code. The information can be found in file "errlog" in directory work of the system unit concerned.

Device type

Entry range permitted: numeric 1 - 9999

Enter a number in this field to identify the device type. If the number is not known, the data record can be found with the Search function.


Delay

Entry range permitted: numeric 100 -10000  (default = 100 )

The maximum delay in milliseconds between related key sequences.

Central lock

Button active: This keyboard has a central lock. If this is the case, the system executes a special routine to identify the current lock position.
Button deactivated: This keyboard has no central lock

Waiter lock

Button active: This keyboard has a waiter lock (Dallas key). If this is the case, the system executes a special routine to identify the current waiter key.
Button deactivated: This keyboard has
no waiter lock (Dallas key).
