Miles & More
Miles & More is a bonus program run by the airline Lufthansa and it allows passengers to collect and cash in premium miles which are not directly related to the purchase of a flight. Numerous partnerships have been established with retailing outlets, banks, internet shops and telecommunication companies. It is also possible to purchase premium miles and to give them away.
MICROS Retail OSCAR POS supports the Miles & More bonus program. Turnover recorded, miles collected and the miles values collected from the purchase of specific items can be cashed in via the system. The Miles&More customer card or credit cards which have the legitimation to be used for Miles&More are read at the terminal.
Normally, miles are calculated after a valid Miles&More bonus card has been swiped. If the magnetic strip is, however, damaged data can be enteredanually via the <MMCARDMAN> key.
The collected miles are stored in the transaction data of MICROS Retail OSCAR POS. A project-specific interface must be defined for this purpose so that transaction data can be exported and transferred to the Miles & More server for further processing.
After the Miles & More customer card has been read miles can be cashed in at the end of a Miles & More payment type as there is an online connection to a Miles & More server operated by Lufthansa.
The following must be complied with:
- The Miles & More Option must be activated in program System -> Configuration -> Installation -> Add.texts to allow the linked branches to be able to calculate Miles & More bonus points.
- Miles & More active must be set in program Application -> Organisation -> Branch so that Miles & More bonus points can be calculated for this branch.
- The parameters for calculating miles values must be stored in program Application -> Organisation -> Country -> Miles & More Parameter.
- The parameters for identifying magnetic cards must be stored in program Application -> Organisation -> Country -> Miles & More card parameter.
- A payment type in which the option Miles & More paytype has been activated in Parameter -> Payment -> Payment type must be stored in the system to allow miles to be cashed in in the system.
- The No Miles & More option must have been activated in program Application -> Department if items in this department are not to be included in calculation of bonus miles.
- A reading device, type Lufthansa-ZVT must have been set up in program System -> Configuration -> Devices to allow Miles & More customer cards to be read.
- Miles & More customers can, as a
result of specific promotions, collect special miles as a bonus. Several
Miles & More bonus types can be stored in the system in program
Application ->Organisation -> M&M
bonus types.
The number to identify the Miles & More bonus type can be called up with key event <MMBONUS>. If a Miles & More card has not yet been read the system sends an error message. Bonus miles can only be recorded after a Miles & More card has been swiped.
