Chapter 11: Working with Cartons (WCTN)
Purpose: The Cartons function defines the attributes of the boxes used to ship your items. You may assign a particular carton to an item by entering a carton code in the Carton field in the Item record.
When you wand the pick slip during the Confirmation process (to acknowledge that you are shipping the item), the system passes the carton ID to TanData. TanData, a PC product used to confirm items for shipment, then calculates the lowest cost for shipping the item.
Note: The carton ID is passed to TanData only for single line (single item) pick slips. Otherwise, the operator is prompted to enter the carton ID for each box being shipped.
The Work with Cartons screen is used to create, change, delete, and display the physical characteristics of each carton.
