Chapter 88: Working with E-Commerce Category (WECC)

Purpose: Use e-commerce categories to identify and group items that you offer on a web storefront. For example, customers can search for items by e-commerce category on the sample storefront.

To assign: You assign an item to one or more e-commerce categories at the Work with Item Categories Screen (E-Commerce). You can assign an e-commerce category to a base item only, not to individual SKUs.

You use Downloading E-Commerce Offer Files (EOFR) to download item-related information, such as e-commerce category assignment, to the web storefront.

Work with E-Commerce Category Screen

How to display this screen: Enter WECC in the Fast path field at the top of any menu, or select Work with E-Commerce Category from a menu.

Field	Description
Cat (Category)	A category used to identify and group items you offer on a web storefront. Alphanumeric, 4 positions; optional.
Description	The description of the e-commerce category. Alphanumeric, 30 positions; display-only.

Screen Option	Procedure
Create a new e-commerce category	Press F6 to advance to the Create E-Commerce Category Screen.
Change an e-commerce category description	Enter 2 next to a category to advance to the Change E-Commerce Category Screen
Delete an e-commerce category	Enter 4 next to a category to delete it. Note: Deleting an e-commerce category in CWDirect does not delete it automatically from the web storefront. You must perform both deletions separately.
Display an e-commerce category	Enter 5 next to a category to advance to the Display E-Commerce Category Screen.

Create E-Commerce Category Screen

Purpose: Use this screen to create a new e-commerce category for identifying and grouping items you sell on the web storefront.

How to display this screen: Press F6 at the Work with E-Commerce Category Screen.

Field	Description
Category	A code to identify a group of items that you sell on the web storefront. Alphanumeric, 4 positions. Create screen: required. Change screen: display-only.
Category description	The description of the e-commerce category. Alphanumeric, 30 positions; required.

Change E-Commerce Category Screen

To change: Enter 2 next to an e-commerce category at the Work with E-Commerce Category Screen to advance to the Change E-Commerce Category screen. See Create E-Commerce Category Screen for field descriptions. You can change only the description.

Display E-Commerce Category Screen

To display: Enter 5 next to an e-commerce category at the Work with E-Commerce Category Screen to advance to the Display E-Commerce Category screen. See Create E-Commerce Category Screen for field descriptions. You cannot change any information on this screen.
