Note: Self Service dashboards that users create through Visual Insight typically contain data from outside the XBRi application, which may contain unmasked personal data viewable to all users. Oracle recommends using the Share functionality to restrict access to reports, documents, and dashboards, including the import data brought in through Self-Service BI. The Customer Admin will need to determine by either group(s) or individual(s) who can import data according to their company data privacy policy.
You can import data, then use your data to quickly create a report, document, or Visual Insight quick dashboard. You can import data from an Excel, CSV or txt file into XBRi project metadata with minimum project design requirements.
Quickly integrating data into XBRi as part of a proof-of-concept
Importing and reporting on personalized data from files on your computer or local network
Immediately building reports, documents, and quick dashboards without having to "model" the data source
Modifying the data in your data source, then republishing the data to quickly update your reports, documents, and quick dashboards
Attributes, metrics, and other objects that are mapped to imported data are created as managed objects. You can include data imported using the Import Data feature, as well as data from the rest of your project, on a single document by using multiple datasets.
Imported data is published as an Intelligent Cube, meaning that it will affect the overall administration and sizing considerations of Intelligent Cubes for a project. For example, once you publish an Intelligent Cube, the Intelligent Cube is stored on the Intelligence Server and takes up memory, which can impact performance. You can manage Intelligent Cubes using the Intelligent Cube Monitor, which provides usage statistics and other information about Intelligent Cubes.
The table below lists tasks you can perform when importing data and steps to perform them.
