Republishing Imported Data

Once you have published your imported data as an Intelligent Cube, you can republish the Intelligent Cube using data from the same type of data source. This allows you to update a published Intelligent Cube with your most recent data.

If the original data source of the Intelligent Cube was  a file from a URL or UNC path, XBRi attempts to automatically republish the Intelligent Cube with new data from the same data source. If the original data source was a file uploaded from your computer, you must reupload the file. However, if your administrator has enabled importing files from a UNC path, you can avoid having to reupload files stored on your computer by specifying the locations of files as a UNC path. For details, see Importing data from a file.

You can specify whether your imported data is replaced or updated when the Intelligent Cube is republished by selecting incremental refresh options. For steps, see Specifying incremental refresh options for an Intelligent Cube.

Prerequisite

This procedure assumes that you have already created the Intelligent Cube you want to republish.

To republish imported data

  1. Navigate to the location of the Intelligent Cube that you want to republish.

  2. Right-click the name of the Intelligent Cube and select Republish. If the Intelligent Cube was originally published using data from a file from a URL or UNC path, a Freeform script, or database, XBRi attempts to automatically republish the Intelligent Cube using data from the same data source.

  3. If the original data source was a file that was uploaded from your computer or network, you must re-upload the file. Perform the following steps:

    1. Click Browse. The Select a File to Upload dialog box is displayed.

    2. Navigate to and select the file you want to upload, then click Open. Click Publish.

    3. If the file is an Excel workbook with more than one sheet of data, from the Sheet Name drop-down list, select the name of the sheet from which you want to import data, then click OK.

  4. If the original data source cannot be not found, or XBRi is otherwise unable to import data from the original data source, you must re-specify the data source using the same steps required to publish a new Intelligent Cube. You can hover the cursor over the information icon to display a detailed description of the problems XBRi encountered during the upload process. If the names or data types of the data columns originally used to publish the Intelligent Cube have changed, or if data columns are now missing, you must define new data columns as attributes and metrics. Select the appropriate options to define attributes and metrics, map data columns to existing attributes, and so on. For steps, see: Importing data from a file
