Execution Bar

The Siebel Composer application accumulates the user's changes at the Siebel client as operations are done using the Composer UI. The Siebel application uses the following methods to commit these changes to the server:

  • When users explicitly commit changes using the Execution Bar.
  • Through an option that is available to users when a navigation occurs.
  • Implicitly when certain operations are performed by users on the Siebel Composer application.

The Execution Bar appears in the top right corner of the Siebel Composer application and consists of these buttons:

  • The Pending Commit Counter (number) button.

This button indicates the number of changes that were made on the Composer user interface and accumulated at the Composer client, which are not yet committed to the Siebel server.

  • The Commit Changes (check mark) button.

Use this button to explicitly commit any pending Composer changes at the client to the Siebel server.

  • The Discard Changes (X) button.

Use this button to discard any pending Composer changes at the client to the Siebel server.

Note that sometimes the Siebel Composer application displays a modal dialog box asking users to either commit or discard changes that have accumulated. An example of this case is when a user makes certain changes in the Composer UI and then navigates to a different view without committing or discarding the changes. At other times, the Siebel Composer application may intelligently choose to commit the changes to the server; for example, when a user adds or deletes a list column using the Siebel Composer application, any changes that are pending at the client at this point are automatically committed to the server.

At all points, the Pending Commit Counter reflects the changes at the client which are yet to be committed to the server.
