5 Size Profile Approval Workbook

The Size Profile Approval workbook allows users to review, update, and approve size profiles. You can restrict manual analysis and approve only alerted size profiles.

Using the Size Profile Approval Workbook

The following diagram outlines how to use the Size Profile Approval workbook.

The number of tabs in the Size Profile Approval workbook depends on the number of escalation levels chosen in the Size Profile Approval wizard. Note that each tab contains the same worksheets.

Planning Action

The planning action for Size Profile Approval workbook is:

Approve Level

An Approve Level menu option is available for every size profile level displayed in the workbook, based on the selections made in the Size Profile Approval wizard process.

The number of Approve Levels displayed in the menu depends on the number of escalation levels chosen in the Size Profile Approval wizard. The Approve Level that the user approves becomes the escalation level at which the hierarchy is maintained.

Size Profile Approval Workbook Wizard

To open a Size Profile Approval workbook:

From the File menu, select New or click the New button.
On the SizeOpt tab, select 4. Size Profile Approval and click OK.

The Available Products screen is displayed. Select the products you want to examine, and click Next.

The Available Locations screen is displayed. Select the locations you want to examine, and click Next.

The Select Master Size Range wizard is displayed. Select the Master Size Range you would like to examine. This filter will ensure that only the items of the selected master size range are brought into the workbook for approval. Click Next.

The Valid Generation IDs screen is displayed. Generation IDs are necessary for saving multiple runs of size profile batches. Select the no more than one generation ID, and click Next.

The Valid Escalation Levels screen is displayed. Escalation levels are the intersections at which a size profile is generated.

Note:
That only the escalation levels that have been enabled for the selected generation ID are available for selection on this wizard screen.

By default, the valid escalation levels are displayed by their label (for example, level 01 or level 02). To display the escalation level intersection labels and make this wizard selection screen more useful, perform the procedure outlined in the "Escalation Level Display" section in Chapter 1. Once finished, the escalation levels listed under the Valid Escalation levels pane is displayed according to their escalation level label (for example, class/store/attribute/size).

Select the escalation levels you want to examine, and click Finish.

The Approval Workbook is built.

The Size Profile Approval workbook contains the Approve tab.

Summary Statistics Worksheet

This worksheet contains all the approval statistics information for its level.

Filtered Sales	Filtered sales indicates total filtered sales after preprocessing.
Total Alerted Profiles Esc Level L04	This indicates total number of alerts triggered.
Total Approved Profiles Esc Level L04	This indicates total approved size profiles.
Total Generated Size Profiles Esc Level L04	This indicates total profiles generated by the system. Note that the system does not generate size profiles in cases where the size profiles are pruned or rejected during postprocessing.

Approve Size Profiles Worksheet

This worksheet contains details of whether any profiles were approved by the system. Besides if the user wants to approve this level for a store that was not approved by the system, it should be done in this worksheet. This worksheet also contains details of archived size profiles for this level, for profiles that were archived earlier .

Measure	Description
Approved by User Esc Level L01	This indicates who has approved the size profile. If the Approve check box is selected, this measure is populated when the user invokes the custom menu. The System approval status indicates that the profile was auto-approved by the system.
Approve Date Esc Level L01	This indicates when a size profile has been approved. If the Approve check box is selected, this measure is populated when the user invokes the custom menu.
Approve Esc Level L01	This indicates that a size profile is ready for approval. The next time the Approve custom menu is invoked by the user, if this is check box is selected, the Approved Size Profile is populated by the adjusted size profile.
Approval Comment for Esc Level 01	In case you would prefer to approve any level of escalated size profile manually, you may add a comment here that is saved for review later.
Approve Status Esc Level L01	This indicates whether a size profile has been approved. If the Approve check box is selected, this measure is populated when the user invokes the custom menu. The None approval status indicates that the size profile has not yet been approved.
Edit Comment for Esc Level Placeholder	Placeholder comments on Esc Level 04 that go with Approval.
Approval Comment Esc Level L01 Latest Archived	Comment attached to the approval for this level for the latest archived profile.
Approve Date Esc Level L01 Latest Archived	Date on which the latest archived profile was approved for this level.

Review and Edit Size Profiles Worksheet

This worksheet contains information on the system profiles, adjust profiles, and resolved profiles.

Approved Profile for Esc Level L01 XG	Current approved Size Profile based on profiles on this escalation level.
Approved Profile Esc Level L01 Latest Archived	Most recently archived Approved Level 01 profile.
Final Approved Size Profile	Current approved Size Profile based on escalation logic.
Adjusted Profile Esc Level L01	This is populated by the normalized values of the Edit Profile. When the user specifies an edit profile, and approves the size profile, the system copies the Adjusted profile to the Approved Profile.
Edit Profile Esc Level L01	This allows users to input override size profile values. Users must enter only the changes to % of sizes that need to be updated. After calculating, SPO will normalize the profile in the Adjusted Profile Esc Level Placeholder measure. If users enter all new values in this measure, SPO does not normalize in the Adjusted Profile measurethat do not add to 100%.
Escalation Level Picked	This is the resulting size profile that would effectively apply for the given escalation level. For the lowest escalation level, this measure is effectively the size profile that gets exported by the system. If a given size profile has been reviewed and approved by user, the resolved size profile will equal the approved size profile. If size profile has not been approved or generated by system, the resolved profile is calculated by traversing the escalation path in the escalation order specified and finding the nearest approved size profile.
System Profile Esc Level L01	This is the system generated size profile for the given escalation level. In case the system fails to generate a size profile because of data sparsity or other issues, zero is displayed.
Sales Size Profile Esc Level L01	This indicates the size profile calculated by the system based on normalized sales from raw unfiltered actual sales.

Viewing Size Profiles From Multiple Levels Simultaneously

While analyzing and approving size profiles, you may want to compare the size profile for a given level with size profiles calculated at higher levels. This can be achieved by reformatting the worksheet layout.

For example, to view size profiles from multiple levels in the location hierarchy so that you can compare the size profiles at a given store with the size profiles that are calculated at the region, perform the following:

Move the Location tile to the Y-axis.
Right-click anywhere on the worksheet and select Outline view.
Right-click the Location hierarchy and select view option Store and Region as shown below:

You can now view the system profile, resolved profile, and other measures for both Store and the corresponding region at the same time.

Kink Exception Tab

The Kink Exception tab allows users to specify kink sizes as well as kink ratios for detecting kink exceptions.

The following section describe the Kink Sizes worksheet available under the Kink Exception tab.

Kink Sizes Worksheet

This worksheet shows for each of the size ranges and subsize ranges, whether any of the sizes are considered kink-sizes. This is used to mark certain sizes as kink, so that the SPO processing batch will process them.
